Lake George is 37 miles west of Colorado Springs and established in 1891 as a railroad stop for the Colorado Midland Railway. The manmade lake was built by George Frost. Blocks of ice were cut from the lake to keep perishables cold for the Pikes Peak region. The Eleven Mile Ranch was started in the early 40's as a summer vacation spot. It is covenant-controlled with a community water system. This gated community has 74 homes and cabins; 13 full-time residences and the rest are summer only. World Class fishing (brown and rainbow trout, northern pike and kokanee salmon) is the highlight of the privately owned lake. Birders and nature lovers will enjoy the abundance of wildlife. You'll love walking a short distance from your property to the lake to sit and relax, take in the views and maybe catch some fish. Lake rights are leased from the Lake George Company. Florissant Fossil Beds National Museum, Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks are nearby. Camp Alexander is also nearby providing camping, hiking, biking, sledding, climbing, fishing, hockey, snowshoeing, and summer camp programs in the Pike National Forest. Elevation 7,992 feet.
